Who has not heard of Bob Marley? He was a gifted songwriter and musician who left us young in 1981 but what a fantastic legacy of reggae music he left behind. Nothing conjures up the warmth of Jamaica as readily as its music. Nobody could fail to be moved by the lilting rhythms and powerful sentiments he and his band, The Wailers, conveyed. Bob played guitar, piano, saxophone, harmonica and percussion as well as singing.
With his trademark dreadlocks flying he was happiest making music or playing football – not to mention taking the ganja!
The compilation album Legend (1984), released three years after his death, is reggae’s best-selling album, selling 25 million copies worldwide. Be reminded forever of Bob’s music and character. He looks wistfully on as if he is straining to catch which tune of his you are playing right now ….
Bob’s portrait head with his subtly contrasting hat stands 38cm (15”) high x 35 cm (14”) deep. Mounted on a black slate base, it costs £1950.00.
